19th Ministerial Meeting - Agricultural Policy Dialogue deepens regional cooperation on agriculture and rural development in the Western Balkans

The countries of South Eastern Europe (SEE), including Moldova, have reaffirmed their joint commitment to a sustainable and competitive agricultural sector within the European integration process.

At the 63rd SWG Assembly Session, held in Prizren in September 2025, representatives of SWG member institutions and partner organizations reviewed the progress achieved in regional cooperation and discussed priorities for the upcoming period. In addition, the conclusions of the Agricultural Policy Forum “Ohrid Agenda 2025” for South East Europe were presented and discussed.

The outcomes of the Assembly were endorsed at the 19th Annual Ministerial Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture from South Eastern Europe, convened on 1 October 2025 in Pristina, which brought together high-level representatives from the region and international partners. Ms. Martina Englhardt-Kopf, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH), officially addressed the meeting. She reaffirmed the German Government’s strong support for the EU accession of the six Western Balkan countries and Moldova as well as for the continuation of the Berlin Process. As a key element, the German support intends to foster investments in climate-resilient agriculture, renewable energy, circular economy solutions and resource-efficient technologies in agriculture.
